JCI Pokhara-Nepal

The year was 2013 B.S. The then youths of Bhairabtole, Pokhara initiated to do social welfare for the benefit of the society. At that time, the local administration was also not paying interest in such issues. The youths were of the same age, one day they were discussing about social service, they came to know about Jaycees creed from a person associated with Kathmandu Jaycees. The youth were inspired by the creed which said, “That faith in god gives meaning and purpose to human life and that service to humanity is the best work of life.”

After that the Jaycees constitution was also received after reaching Kathmandu from Gajendra Bahadur Shrestha who was President of Kathmandu Jaycees. Orientation training was held in New Hotel Crystal in the presence of National President Jagadish Bhakta Mathema and National Executive Vice President Rajendra Bahadur Shrestha.

In order to mobilize the energy of those 21 youth, a gathering was organized on 3rd Falgun 2031 BS (February 13) in Hotel Yak and a committee was formed under the chairmanship of Late Keshab Lal Shrestha. Bikal Prasad Sherchan suggested naming the organization as Pokhara Jaycees. Then a new committee was formed on 27th Falgun 2031 (1975 April 11) and Pokhara Jaycees got affiliation from Nepal Jaycees on 20th of Chaitra of the same year. The Gandaki Zonal Chief along with the presence of Nepal Jaycees officials inaugurated the organization on 10th Jestha 2032 (24 May 1975). By then Jaycees movement started in Pokhara.
